A Peppa Pig World Review and Top Tips.

Pepper Pig World Review

So Peppa Pig World with a 2 year old and a nearly 4 year old. If you have a child or children of this age, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Peppa and family. You have likely endured back to back episodes of the little pig with an attitude thanks to the Nick Jr channel. The kids love her and her slightly stroppy ways, maybe it’s because she’s relatable to them unlike the permanently positive, goody two shoes, non tantrum throwing Paw Patrol. Anyway, my point is is if you’ve heard of her, you’ve likely probably also heard of Peppa Pig World and if you’ve found this blog, you’re considering paying her a visit just to see the excited face of your kid and make them so happy they’ll want to jump up and down in muddy puddles for the rest of eternity.

Despite my slightly negative view of Peppa, Scarlett loves her so off we trotted to Paulton Park to give her a belated birthday day out she would, all being well, absolutely adore.

I’d read a few Peppa Pig World Reviews that haven’t painted it in a particularly favorable light. I’m one of those annoying people who always check review sites such as Tripadvisor, the awesome Wikiplacesforkids.com and a few parenting blogs before we go anywhere, but we had a great day and I would definitely recommend it. I think WHEN you visit will have a huge impact on enjoyment levels as parents (keep reading for my tips on this).

What did the kids think? Well, over a month later and Scarlett is still talking about our time at Peppa Pig Park as she has named it almost daily. This morning she sat and watched the videos I’d taken on my phone of her on ‘the big spin’ (Peppa’s Big Ballon Ride) and ‘Scarlett Lockie Cars’ (Daddy Pig’s Car Ride) over and over. It’s safe to say she thourally enjoyed her time in Peppa Pig land. We all enjoyed it to be honest!

I do think Lockie who will be 4 in a couple of months is on the upper end of the scale in regards to the age it is most suitable for. He had a good time, 100% but he was not enthralled by it. The rides could be a little boring once you are older than preschool age. Saying that he is a Paw Patrol fan so maybe if it was Paw Patrol World it would be a different story.

From our personal experience, is Peppa Pig World worth it? Yes, I would say it most definitely is. Like I said, we had a great time and it’s always nice to feel like your facilitating your children living their best lives isn’t it!

I could give you a full run down of our visit but I thought it would probably be more useful if I put together a list of tips and answered some questions about Peppa Pig World and what goes down when you’re there instead.

Family at Paultons Park

Top Tips and Know before you Go’s.

1.Where is Peppa Pig World?

Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World theme park is located in Hampshire, UK. Near the New Forest. It took us two hours to drive from near Brighton and I believe its approximately the same driving time from London too.

2.Can you get to Peppa Pig World by Train?

Yes you can. There are transport links from Southampton and Portsmouth. I found this website which gives excellent advice on getting to Paultons Park/Peppa Pig World by train and public transport. Check it out here.

3.What Age is Peppa Pig World Suitable for?

As mentioned above, Lockie is almost 4 and he had a great time, he wanted to go on some of the rides more than once but he wasn’t totally bowled over by it like Scarlett was. I probably would save it for the toddlers to be honest and not take kids over 4. Unless they are a die hard Peppa Pig fan. If you have siblings to consider, I would plan your day to spend time between Peppa Pig World and the rest of Paultons Park. Its a family theme park which caters for older kids too. Your ticket covers both.

4.What’s at Peppa Pig World?

It is a Peppa Pig theme park! So you can expect rides and attractions, all Peppa Pig themed and all of which are suitable for kids under 1m. There are 9 rides in total and they are small and gentle. There is also Peppa Pigs House, an indoor soft play area and an outdoor play area too. Not forgetting Muddy Puddles which is a splash pad play area. There is a dedicated Peppa Pig shop, and Ice cream Parlour. There is also the chance to meet Peppa and her friends. in real life!

5.When is Peppa Pig Open?

Scarlett turned 2 in December but Paultons Park is extremely expensive over Christmas due to the big man paying a visit (FYI Scarlett spotted him maning one of the rides in a Paultons uniform, so now we know what Santa gets up to in his spare time). We had loads on, so we said we’d take her in the new year. Then we found out it was closed until the middle of February. Even in March it’s only open on certain days. My best advice would be to check the Pepper Pig World website before you go.

6. Can you do Peppa Pig World in 1 day?

Yes, easily. At the time of year we went (March), the park didn’t open until 10:30am. Arriving at about 10:45, we headed straight for Peppa Pig World. Leaving for home for about 4:30pm. We didn’t go on all the rides in that time but that’s only because Lockie and Scarlett wanted to go back on the ones they had enjoyed most. We stopped for lunch, had an ice cream break and the whole day was taken at a leisurely pace.

7. How much are Peppa Pig World Tickets?

A lot. In my opinion. We paid £95 for the four of us and that’s with Scarlett going free. You don’t have to pay for kids under 1m. We measured Lockie before we left and he came up as 1.1m with shoes on. We bought him a ticket but they have a 1m measuring gauge on the way in (although we only saw it on the way out) and he walked under it without needing to bend. A little annoying. I looked for discount codes before going but couldn’t find anything. Paultons Park isn’t on the list of days out you can use your Tesco Club Card points for either. At the time of writing this anyway, do check in case anything changes!

8. Can you pay for entrance just to to Peppa Pig World only?

Unfortunately not as I’m sure if this was the case the cost of tickets would be a little less. You have to walk through Paultons Park to get to Peppa. It would be very difficult for them to manage separate tickets because of this.

9. Can you Take Dogs to Peppa Pig World?

Dogs are only allowed in the park if they are registered guide or assistance dogs.

10. Book in Advance

Make sure you book in advance to save some doller. Tickets are expensive enough as it is without paying full whack on the door. If you buy an advance ticket online they can only be used from the following day.

11. Keep an eye on the weather

It maybe that your dates aren’t flexible so you’ll be going rain or shine. If that’s the case, do bare in mind that everything is outside and dress appropriately. If the weather is looking hideous, and you booked in advance, your tickets aren’t for a set date. They are valid for up until the start of the November after you purchased. That means you can go any day the park is open, making it easy to rearrange your plans. Do bare in mind that if the weather isn’t perfect, sometimes this works in your favour. Places like this are ALOT quieter, so shorter wait times for the rides. You can always duck into the soft play if you need to take cover for a bit.

12. Download the App

The app gives you estimated queue times for each ride. Handy so you can try and be strategic about which ride to go on next. It takes the guess work out of it and you can choose, depending on how long the wait is. We found the queues went a little quicker than the estimated times. I’ve heard different to this from people who have gone in summer though.

13. Don’t Leave Meeting Peppa to Chance

Upon entrance you will be given a timetable. Don’t ignore it. It tells you when Peppa will be out and about. The queues to get a photo with her were huge so we didn’t bother. We admired her and George from afar and gave them a little wave instead.

14. Consider Staying Over Night

Paultons Park offer a 2 day pass and also short break packages with a hotel and tickets included as a discounted rate. If you want to see both Peppa Pig World and Paultons Park, you would need more than one day not to feel super rushed so these packages may be your best option. There are a selection of budget hotels nearby (Premier Inn, Holiday Inn etc.). There are some higher budget hotels too (if that’s the way you roll), which you can book separately.

15. There are lockers available

If you stay over at a hotel and came buy public transport you may have big bags with you. If you plan to use the park after checking out of your hotel, there are lockers available at the entrance to store them.

16. Take a picnic

Yes, you can take a picnic to Peppa Pig World, you can take your own food. We took a packed lunch with us just to try and keep costs down. There are tables and chairs to sit and eat. It was a little chilly when we went, so we utalised an undercover heated area with lots of picnic benches just outside the entrance of Peppa Pig World it’s self.

Just FYI there are real ducks that are quite keen for you to share your lunch with them. My advice would be not to feed them. I saw people giving them all sorts of food. I can’t imagine chips are too good for ducks. Plus once you give them something they will just keep coming back.

17. Consider When to go.

School holidays are best avoided when thinking about going somewhere like this. Not always possible I know, in which case I would suggest avoiding the summer holidays at least. If you do go in summer come prepared to entertain small people in long queues.

Try and stick to march/April time or october/November if you can for the most enjoyable experience. Just be sure to check opening days, times and check for ride closures too. They close rides for maintenance all through the year but more so outside of the busy periods.

In terms of timing your day, most people assume that the morning and late afternoon is going to be quietest. We actually found lunch time to have the shortest ques. Lots of toddlers have a routine and that includes a nap around lunch time (there is plenty of room for pushchairs and nap strolls).

18. Utilise the Play Area

You might find yourself in need of a break from queuing and the kids needing some instant gratification. If this is the case, take them to the play areas for a bit. The only down side to this is having to try and get them out again!

19. Hire a Pushchair

If you’re at Paultons Park on a short break and don’t have room in the car for a pushchair, you can hire them. Double and single for £8 a day. It’s a good option if you have young kids who don’t have a pushchair at home anymore but will get tired walking around all day. I don’t think you’d need one for Pepper Pig World only.

20. What to Bring

On warm days bring a swimming costume and towels for the Muddy Puddles splash park. Wellies for days that aren’t so warm so the kids can still enjoy it.

Also in summer bring socks in case you want to use the soft play!
