The Best No Cook Playdough Recipe.

The best no cook playdough recipe – you can make your own playdough in less than 5 minutes. It turns out so much softer than shop bought playdough and is just as squishy and pliable too but the best thing about it is its much cheaper!

One of Scarletts favourite things to do it seems is play with playdough. It’s handy when I need to keep her entertained while I cook dinner or just need to quickly give her something to do to take her attention away from a screen. Lockie will also play with it but he just isn’t the sit down and play type (it makes it hard to keep him busy in the house 😅). He’ll get bored but Scarlett will play with it for hours. I’m not even exaggerating! I just give her a rolling pin, some biscuit cutters and anything else I think she might enjoy. Cutlery, small world animals, flowers and pebbles are all recent additions to the play set up. Its so nice to see her get so much enjoyment from it.

How to make the best no cook playdough.

Ingredients:

135g flour

35g table salt

A wedge of lemon

1 tsp vegatable Oil

2 tsp food colouring

60 mls lukewarm water

You can do this with or without getting the kids involved. If I get them involved I always make sure that ingredients are pre measured just because they are little still. I get that measuring is a ‘maths’ activity but it’s a skill I’m not up for teaching right now and when I have tried it my kids don’t want to wait around to measure, they want to get stuck in.

  1. Sieve the flour and the salt into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix the water, oil and food coloring into a jug and add a squeeze of lemon
  3. Pour the wet into the dry a little at a time and keep stirring. Add a little more flour if it looks a little sticky.
  4. Put the dough onto a lightly flowered surface and knead until everything looks to be the right consistency.

To make more than one colour omit the food colouring above and split the dough now into balls. Add a few drops of colour into each ball and keep kneading until an even colour is achieved.

You are then ready to play! Its that simple!
